Among the possible uses for this software are:
1. For all persons desiring in depth information on the dive/fishing site in all three Counties, Adobe formatted information, in the form of a booklet (similar to the printed "Dive Location" booklets sold at Dive Shops for $18-20.00), are crammed with information about virtually all published sites in each County. (See the * County Name.PDF downloads for each County). These allow the user to investigate the site(s) one wishes to visit in the comfort of their home prior to setting out on a trip. All the information may be printed for personal use on your vessel. We suggest you have the individual charts printed & laminated to carry aboard your vessel. The native size of these charts is 11" X 17". Print shops such as FedEx Kinko's will print & laminate each chart (double sided) for a cost between $6-8.00 per copy. We recommend specifying a "10 mil" laminate. Although copyrighted, we allow printing for your personal/non-commercial use!
2. For those persons having a GPS on their vessel, the Adobe publications contain a Dive/Fishing site Index with accurate GPS coordinates for all sites which may be uploaded to your GPS. We currently do not supply the uploading software since, due to the great variety of units on the market, it precludes us undertaking this task at the current time.
3. For those having a personal computer on-board, with the possibility of integrating it with a GPS receiver, we recommend the use of Google Earth/Goops software combination to navigate to their selected dive/fishing sites (we have provided information on how to download these programs for free from their web sites). See the following paragraph for integrating our KMZ overlay information
4. One may download the individual area (xx_rr. KMZ) charts from our web site (7 for Broward, 9 for Miami-Dade and, 15 for Palm Beach County) or the entire County (NN_rr.KMZ) charts (one per County). This Google Earth/Goops combination allows precise navigation (within 20' nominal / 10' typical) of each marked site. Downloading and installing our overlays allows one to open Google Earth by simply clicking on a KMZ Icon. Google Earth will open and automatically zoom in on the KMZ overlay! If Goops is used, Google Earth will zoom in to show your current vessel location!
There is nothing like the feeling of arriving over site, seeing it displayed on your depth sounder, dropping your hook and diving to find yourself "right on" target! We dive on the 47' trawler "Seahorse" out of Lighthouse Point and consistently drop our hook "down the stack" of many a sunken barge or derelict wreck. With this software we find it very easy to position our vessel accurately and avoid damage to coral reefs and other "live bottom".
Notes: xx = B0-P11 etc; rr = revision level; NN = County name; KMZ = standard Google overlay file type
